The Vallejo community is mourning the tragic loss of 21-year-old Demonie Whitehead, who was killed in a shooting early Saturday morning at an apartment complex.
According to the Vallejo Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call shortly after 1:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Porter Street. Upon arrival, they found Whitehead suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members described Demonie as vibrant, strong, and full of life. Her father, Damon Whitehead Sr., said he learned of her death when her friends came to his home with the devastating news. Loved ones remembered her as entrepreneurial, creative, and deeply passionate, noting she had recently launched her own clothing line and had a bright future ahead.
Relatives say they believe the suspect may be someone known to the victim and are calling for answers and justice as the investigation continues. Authorities have confirmed that the case remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made at this time.
The motive behind the shooting is still unknown.
