The incident occurred Thursday morning at the intersection of Old Keene Mill Road and Lee Chapel Road, where emergency crews responded to reports of a burning and exploded vehicle. Firefighters arrived quickly and were able to extinguish the blaze.
Preliminary findings from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department suggest the fire was caused by a propane tank inside the vehicle, though the exact circumstances leading to the explosion remain under investigation.
