Authorities in Brighton are investigating a deadly auto-pedestrian crash that occurred early Tuesday morning.
Police responded around 4:20 a.m. to the area of Highway 85 and West Bromley Lane after reports that a vehicle had struck a person crossing the roadway. When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian—a man—on the ground with severe injuries.
Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that a 38-year-old driver was traveling northbound on Highway 85 when the pedestrian attempted to cross the road and was struck. Authorities say the driver remained at the scene, cooperated fully, and showed no signs of impairment.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin by the coroner’s office.
The crash led to temporary road closures in the area as investigators worked to process the scene. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
May the victim rest in peace.
